Michelle Chadwick
Strategic communications is just one of the many paths agricultural journalism students can choose as part of their major. For Michelle Chadwick, AgJ '07 from Gallatin, it was a perfect fit.
With minors in rural sociology and agricultural economics, Chadwick has tailored her studies to best fit her interests and career aspirations, which include working in public relations for an agency before switching over to the client side.
Although she didn't have a clear focus for her undergraduate degree coming into college, Chadwick said she's glad she chose the Agricultural Journalism Program.
"I liked writing in high school, and I wasn't sure I knew what I wanted to major in, but I knew it would be in CAFNR," Chadwick said. "I chose AgJ on a whim, but I love it and have never changed my major."
Chadwick is a member of Phi Mu sorority and Sigma Rho Sigma honorary service fraternity. Her work experience includes internships with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Gallatin Publishing Co. She is completing her semester at the Columbia Missourian.
When asked her advice for high school students, Chadwick said: "Don't let a couple of tough classes scare you. They may be a little tougher than others, but you'll get through them and will be a better journalist for it."
