Supporting Materials to be Submitted
Official Transcripts of all course work, undergraduate and graduate, from colleges and universities previously attended should be sent directly to the director of graduate studies, department of agricultural education. An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work is required for admission.
Personal Data Sheet includes biographical and professional experience information. Professional goals, career objectives, motivation for graduate work, and other pertinent information are included.

Letters of Recommendation: Letters should attest to an applicant's professional competence, academic preparation, and potential for graduate work in agricultural education. The letters should clearly reflect professional success and predict academic success at the graduate level.
At least one letter should be from a college or university faculty member who can speak in some detail of the applicant's academic aptitude; at least one should be from an administrator or colleague who can speak authoritatively of the applicant's professional experience and potential.
- At least three letters of recommendation are required.
Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) Score:
- In compliance with the Graduate School, all Ph.D. applicants are required to have on file scores of the GRE. A minimum score is not required, however, scores will be used in making admission and other decisions pertaining to assignment and financial aid. Applications will not be considered without GRE scores.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Scores: Applicants whose native language is not English must submit scores on a TOEFL administered within the last two years.
- A score of 550 or higher is required for admission.

Additional Requirements
For Ph.D. applicants, priority will be given to students pursuing a concentration in teacher education.
Experience: A minimum of three years full-time appropriate teaching or other professional experience in elementary, secondary, higher education, or industry is required for admission.
Statement of Purpose should summarize professional goals, including career objectives, research interests, motivation for graduate work, and other pertinent information. The statement is usually around 500 words and should clearly indicate that a doctoral degree is appropriate for the applicant's professional aspirations.
Preliminary Examination: The admissions committee may require a written and/or oral preliminary examination prior to enrollment or during the first semester of enrollment.
Prospective students should apply at least 60 days prior to initial enrollment. Students who do not meet this deadline may be admitted conditionally, pending determination of qualifications. Twelve hours of graduate credit may be completed prior to admission; however students will not qualify for assistantship support until the admission process is completed.
All requirements implicit in these criteria must be completed prior to consideration of an applicant for admission. A committee of faculty will review the credentials of all applicants. The committee frequently must use its judgment to discern from among those individuals who are judged to have the greatest potential for program success and ultimate contribution to the profession. Resource constraints may not permit the admission of all applicants who meet the minimum standards specified for the degree program.
